Goldeneye Guides is a leading independent publisher of Guide Books, Map-Guides and specialist guides for Cycling, Mountain Biking and Walking, to the most popular tourist destinations in England and Wales. We have been producing these guides for 25 years and have a unique knowledge and passion for the English landscape; her countryside and coastline, harbours, towns and villages.
As an independent publisher, we are not beholden to advertising revenues or outside influences. This allows us to include only those places we feel are interesting enough or special enough to be included. It also allows us to say what we like about certain places. An honesty you will not find in any other major travel publication about the UK.
Our Guidebooks are not simple listings with little of visual interest to the Reader. They provide instead a mental and visual feast: they are illustrated with stunning and unique photography, taken by the author on his many information gathering trips around the regions, and they are full of information on the history of the towns and villages, famous inhabitants past and present, and so much more… They make excellent gifts and are a good read when you are sampling one of the many pubs or beach-front cafes we recommend.
The Map Guides provide - in a more condensed format - similar concise and detailed information on the attractions and places to visit; from National Trust properties, to isolated churches and beaches, and often with a recommended stop at a gastro-pub or tearoom. We include a selection of places to stay and places to eat to provide in one single map, all you need for an excellent short break or holiday.
Our Cycling and Mountain Biking Maps are supported by Sustrans - the organisation responsible for the development and maintenance of the National Cycle Network. Both are laminated sheet maps with altitude (contour) layering which illustrate recommended circular routes. The Cycling Country Lanes range includes traffic-free routes, family cycling trails and National Cycle Network routes, all following quiet country lanes and byways. The Mountain Biking Maps show circular routes along bridleways, forest paths and quiet country roads and are graded from Easy to Difficult.
We also produce both Walking Maps and Guidebooks which include more detailed mapping, showing circular routes complete with navigational points of reference. Each route is graded for difficulty levels and in our recently introduced Cotswold Classic Walks Guidebook, we recommend the best routes for families, dog owners, pub-lunch seekers and much more. Easy to use and colourfully illustrated, the walking guides are just what you need for an exciting day out.
Summer's in the air and to help you enjoy your holidays we are extending our June offer on a selection of our Cycling maps.
